The Future of Teamwork

I recently got the chance to try Space by KYZON Solutions with my team.

It's a new video conferencing platform that's really simple to use and has some really useful features like being able to open Google Drive/DropBox/OneDrive in the meeting itself.

Can see this being useful for project teams, service providers or even for teaching.

I share my review of the platform below. *The review is my own thoughts but I did reach out to KYZON Solutions for help with providing the graphics.

During our time using Space, we found these 4 areas being the stand outs when compared to similar products like Zoom, Google Meets and MS Teams.

  1. Real-time collaboration

I loved the real-time collaboration feature—it made team calls so much smoother.

We could edit documents right in the call browser, saving us tons of time by not having to switch between apps.

Plus, with everyone viewing the same document, it helped prevent miscommunication and kept us perfectly aligned.

  1. Seamless Presentation Sharing

I like how I can share my PDF presentations directly with everyone in the space. I don't know how the people at KYZON did it, but people in my team said there wasn't any lag when I was moving between pages.

Another neat feature was how people on my team could scroll back up and review things they had missed while I was talking - without having to interrupt me. And when they caught up, they can easily follow my presentation with a click of a button

  1. Popular File Sharing Integrations

We use Google Drive for storing and working on documents as a team. It's crazy how no-one has thought of connecting popular file sharing platforms with video calls.

It was really easy to connect Google Drive to Space and it just made so much sense to work on Google Docs in the call instead of having to screen share it and have everyone talking over each other while watching the screen-sharer make the changes 🤯

  1. Open spaces

I like how Space does their breakout rooms. It feels more open and more community - similar to the way Discord does their channels.

We didn't use this much, but I can see how teams can split into these open spaces for smaller group discussions without feeling like their being left out of the main meeting

We found Space had all the other necessary features too. Such as:

  • Built-in note-taking

  • Meeting recordings

  • Snapshots for quick insights

  • Powerful host controls

Areas that could be improved:

  1. Virtual backgrounds aren’t available yet

  2. Provide quick sign up with Google or Apple

TLDR: Space is great for people and teams looking for:

  1. Live document editing that allows everyone to contribute

  2. In-built presentations without screen sharing

  3. Direct integrations with popular file sharing Google Drive/DropBox/OneDrive so you don’t ever need to leave the meeting

  4. Open connected spaces for small group collaboration
